Nice job Dave, did you use the KH 500 frame bracing as reference? SoupD. Thanks Mark. For the steering head I'm pretty much copying the KH. I may throw in some other stuff too. Just for welding practice really.. I don't know what I will be doing with the frame.

^ Nice work. I think I will add the tube in-between the down tubes now as well, maybe the X one too. Did you notice a big improvement after the gusseting? I guess you were racing on that frame? I am just doing it for fun really.
Maybe I will... no, I can barely afford H1 parts. I got my H1 piston kit from Andre, so I will be re-building my motor this winter.

Wish my welds looked like that! And you and Walms got me thinking now would be a good time to gusset mine up as well, looks like 1/8" plate?

I really don't think the stock frames need bracing unless you are racing at Daytona. Or if you are maniacal on the street doing 100mph dragging cases on bumpy roads. I did go over board on the "X" 1/2" should be more than enough.

What kind of welder do you have?
A nice little 180 Hobart mig but it's my tallents that lack. i am tacking up my project and getting it tigged by a certified welder.

Sometimes it's a gamble with me and my skills. You're project looks great also, I don't know if I commented on your thread yet. On another note, that plate under the gas tank isn't the best idea if you're using the stock tank/petcock.... I felt like such an idiot when I tried to put the tank on lol..

I put some bracing in the same area for the rear suspension and put the tank on to get the same results

Hi Guys, I thought I'd post this photo of my frame, which I had braced back in the 80's based on the Denco diagram when it appeared in Fran Golden's Kawasaki Triples Club newsletter. Note the hole for the fuel tap for the early H1. Also the crossbar between the front downtubes with support plates. There's more at the steering head and down by the swingarm spindle. Cheers, Neil

For those that have added tubing for bracing in spots, What size tubing was it, what wall thickness, and what material?
