How big is that speedo??
It looks pretty small, I emailed that company looking for measurements and price, haven't received one back yet.
Edit,
They emailed me back saying 60mm by 40mm. that's 2.4inches by 1.6 inches! Thats tiny!!

Mine measures 69mm or 2.7", stock tack is 3.4" so really just 3/4" smaller.

What model is yours? I really like the look of that and I am really considering it for the 500.. Price seems to be alright too.

[/quote] Heres a shot for comparison, I ordered the 8702 but should have probably got the 2752 for the gas gauge feature (if it's just a programable set point) Meanwhile I noticed the front brake reservoir was lower than the cylinder because the GSXR had clipons, plus I didn't like the rubber hose so I had to remount the reservoir and get some stainless braided line. May as well do the rear at the same time.

Did you use the mounting bracket that came with the gauge, or did you make your own?

A combo, I used their mount but had to make a bracket off the GSXR top tree, you can see it better on post 294 (page 20) Still need to make and powder coat a spacer but will save that detail for a rainy day.

Finished off the wiring harness today but not without some snags, noticed some burned insulation on a wire for the rectifier (looked like it was a black wire) closer investigation showed the copper was bare. It got solder spliced and reinsulated with heat shrink Looks to be a ground wire for the rectifier. Also found a couple extra wires I cant account for, this first one is brown with a white tracer and is in the main wiring harness at the junction on the steering neck where the left handle bar switches connect (horn, hi lo beam, headlights on) The next mystery wire is a light green from the rectifier that is not shown on the wiring diagram. Anyone have some insight to these 2 mystery wires?

The brn/wh wire is for Euro "city lights" - Not used
The light green is really light blue. It is for a charge light on H1/A - Not used on H1B.
The burnt wires on the rectifier make it suspect. Better check it before installing. You may want to consider the mod Dave just finished.

Hey, bake. i just finished this conversion and it worked well. If your rectifier is fried they want around $175 for a stock one. I got the parts at the local Carquest store. ECC 20-5568 rectifier and EG-VR 166 regulator.. Total was $124. I had to mount the reg on the back of the battery box and the rectifier on the front.

A charging light in the system is nice to have and is easily installed. Remember, your iggy system relies on a healthy alternator system to continue running.
Having a "Red light of Death" lets you know of a pending roadside conk out!
I now have about 14,000 kms and 3 seasons since installing my final development (posted) of the conversion with no issues. Alt brush wear is now virtually non existent too.

Good info on the charging system lads Have been putting hours into the build but it's sooo painfully slow, take for instance the new chain guide for the swingarm.... swinger had to come off the frame and the new piece modified to fit. Speedo magnet and sensor in place after trying 3 different spots, read making brackets for the garbage can! Yesterday I decided to fill the rear brake reservoir and bleed rear brakes but it leaked out the master cylinder and now I am shopping for a rebuild kit. On and on it goes.

I had to devise a bar riser so this seemed like the simplest solution, a chunk of aluminum turned down, drilled and powder coated. in place Also needed something for my seat to latch into, more aluminum / powder coat. and again in place My camera sure seems to pick up the lint and finger prints! Ran into a couple hurdles... first with the higher bars... now the brake lines are to short, gimme all the links you got for SS braided brake lines lads I am still on the hunt for someone with a M10 X 1.25 helicoil set they can lend me, I will pay shipping both ways.

Russel brake line kits
Order online or any motorcycle shop should get it for you.
Tell them the length you need of line, what style of fitting you need (straight, 45, or 135 depending on the angle you need)
order a box of crush washers, each box contains 10
you can order new banjo bolts if you want
All very good quality and fairly cheap..
