I'm learning the ways, and quirks of the Yamahas now. Many different things from Kawasakis. I'll keep your lurking in mind David.

I had to re-sand the tank but the final paint came out much better. I guess I've learned to sand, sand, sand paint then sand again. The professionallly done spray cans work much better than the CTC Paint Match ones. Now to wait a week and Debbie will apply the decals then another week and the clear.

Hi Jim They colour match and make up the aerosols at the Top Shop Auto Paint in Barrie. I also got the orange for H1B there.

What type of base coat did you get? I bought my paint from that place and the over spray was insane. It got everywhere. Did that happen to you? I'm going to have to redo it in the spring.

I didn't find it too bad Dave. Their aerosols definitely have a wider spray area. Iused Dupli-color filler /primer then the spray acrylic enamel. Planning on 2K clear after the decals are on. Diablo say to wait a week to clear after the decals are on.

Diablo say to wait a week to clear after the decals are on. They sold me some kind of base coat. I think I should have got the acrylic enamel. Once it warms up I will go back and order some. I'm going to use the 2k clear as well.

Debbie Steadyhand did the decals yesterday. Now just to clearcoat and add the Yamaha badges... She did it with the added pressure of very helpful advice from a hovering husband...

They has a huge colur catalogue with little cut outs. I took off a side cover badge to reveal the original paint and they matched it up perfectly. There were easily 500 different reds. They knew what they were looking for where I didn't see any differences.
They put the hole over my colour and matched it with the paint chip above and around the hole.
