Just one more problem in a long line. I got the new headlight and have it working. I have the brake light working . With lights on, I get no tail light. If I switch to parking light in position 2 on the switch, I have tail light. The switch seems intact and all the wires look fine on the back of it. I am looking at the back of the switch and can honestly say that it wasn't me this time. Is the red and white wire soldered in the wrong place ? It is down beside the blue wire. I see an empty glob of solder up beside the white main power wire. Is that where the red/white tail light wire should be? It seems too far to the side beside the blue wire to go on with the key in the 1st on position

I found another switch. It has a small jumper wire from beside the white to the red/white wire but it made no difference. No tail light with key on pos 1 and tail light when in pos 2.

When in "run" position there should be 12v on r/w wire if battery is connected.... or there should be continuity between brn and r/w terminals if disconnected.

Hey Dave,I think the place to look is in your handle bar control. Something tells me the points bike was wired differently Than the cdi. Those looked similar but we’re not.

I can confirm the little jumper wire - also that H2, S2 and H1B use the same switch. There is something weird about the tail light wiring harness on H1B.. can't recall what it is..

The red/white wire goes to the tail light - I expect that is why there is a jumper..so that light comes on in either key position. I would re-solder and try the same switch.

Seems to me if you tried another switch and it made no difference that is not the problem?

Are there 2 good filaments in the bulb?

Yes. The tail light works on parking light and the stop light still works too. I did think of that but have tried 3 different bulbs. All brand new.

I would test ohms between the pigtail of the bulb all the way up to the switch harness. Break in the wire ?

The question is do you have any clock lights. If not you need to ohm the blue and check for a break or problems in the handlebar control right back to the tail light. Pretty sure the park light runs on a different circuit.

I would test ohms between the pigtail of the bulb all the way up to the switch harness. Break in the wire ? The light works on park. There is a little jumper wire in the ignition switch from the parking light contact to the tail light contact so there is no break in the wire. The main tail light wire goes to the parking light position with the jumper to the lights on tail light position on the "on" position.
