Here's a riddle for you. H1A starts right up and idles nicely and will do so for hours. But, put it in gear and take off and the fuse blows within 15 feet. So? Did I mention just how much I love electrics?

My H2 blew fuses seemingly at random. I had to install a non-auto-reset circuit breaker instead of the fuse so I didn't have to carry several fuses each ride. I finally figured out that the rear brake light switch was bad. I rarely use the rear brake, but when I did, it shorted the brake light power wire to ground and blew the main fuse.
Any chance you're using the rear brake within 15 feet? Or maybe the front brake? Or maybe it's something else and bouncing down the road does it.

Maybe try disconnecting all non essential electics for running. Lights, brake switches, etc..and then reattach one by one to see where the problem is. Hopefully not with an essential item like charging and ignition.

If you start and run it, and rev it up will it blow ? No. It idles and revs but without lights, or brake lights etc, it blows as soon as I take off. All non-ignition parts are not on.

This happened on my H1B, there was something amiss with the battery box and with the seat closed down and jiggling down the road, the battery would short.

If you can rev it to say 4 or 5 g in neutral and it's ok .try then putting it in gear on the center stand and see what happens. If it doesn't blow then it must be a wire jiggling when you riding.

Hi Dave,
I think it's got to do with you being on the bike. I had a similar problem on my H1A when I first go it on the road in Paris a few years back. Check all the wiring running under the seat. In my case my non-standard seat was pinching a wire against the frame. Only when I was actually on the seat did the short occur. Used a piece of loose electrical tape off Donnie's bike for a temporary repair. N.

Is there a cover on the boxes Ah, you mean like one that hits the transistors when you sit on the seat? Or maybe one that keeps the seat from hitting the transistors?

Make sure your horn wire isn't grounding. That was the source of numerous blown fuses on my H2.

I have seen Dave's wiring jobs. Nothing more needs to be said.
