38 bucks CDN for All Balls. Got three bikes with them and always grease the heck out of them before they get installed. Whoever has the idea that packing them with too much grease will cause failure does not know what they are talking about, total BS. The grease will squeeze out when torqued down and used. I flood my jet ski trailer tapered bearings with grease to keep water out and they last forever. Have two triples and one Honda with All Balls on the steering heads. The seals on the All Balls is better than OEM in many cases, often OEM tapered bearings (on other installations) have no top seal. Id say most failures are due to the use of a 'hammer and chisel' during the install and/or cranking them down too much. www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/all-balls-steering-stem-bearing-kit.htmlrt

Now that you mentioned it, I put a grease fitting in my H2's head tube 35+ years ago and keep it full. My original ball bearings are still like new.

Low preload will toast a bearing too as it will hammer over bumps. If you pop a bunch of wheelies and don't know how to land that will make things nasty too with poorly installed bearings. I'd say you need a new maintenance guy because thousands of happy All Balls users cannot all be wrong. Sounds like a product pumping oil brand debate to me! LOL
Like someone correctly stated the tapered bearings are overkill in many cases-especially so in a light weight triple. Many known bearing brands are made in Asia as are other cheap to buy but perfectly acceptable MC parts. My last set had SKF markings. Rarely will I use a local bike shop when not stocked. I can acquire parts cheaper, quicker and with less hassle to my door from Asia or local mail order. All the good stuff comes from Asia anyway.

I guess it all boils down to what one wants to spend their money on. I for one do not believe that all the good stuff comes from Asia, unless you`re talking 4`11" red hair, green eyes, and nice t*ties. As with every thing else I believe the Asians are quite capable of making superior goods, as consumers of after market goods, is this what we get, usually not. If a company like All balls used first quality bearings, they`d be too expensive, and likely would be out of business not being able to sell enough based on price, and the turn around on resale would fall sharply, due mostly to the fact that real good bearings way out last the cheap stuff. It`s all marketing. First run or OEM quality parts seem to be mostly evident in new equip`t, manufacturers are mostly protecting themselves from their warranties. Once things wear out, you`re stuck buying stuff that wears out even quicker, we`re all subject to that. My Volvo`s wheel bearings survived for a little over 200k km, since then it seems like every 50-80k they need replacing, replacement bearings are not of the same quality as the originals, that`s marketing, and these are not cheap, even the cheap ones. For the amount of use our old triples get I`m sure some of these mail order cheap bearings are fine, but wouldn`t it be nice to spend all the money you`re going to spend anyways on first quality and be done with it for a long while.(there`s no money in that) I replaced my wheel bearings with all balls kits, 2500mile since restore and I`m starting to feel the effects of premature wear, just saying, was just trying to save a bit on the restore budget.... That being said, Mitch, I think, as well as others here, the all balls steering head bearings would be fine for your bike, 60buck+/- from a good shop, or 80-100bucks mail order. As far as a debate on bearings go, it could be long winded, everyone has an opinion and favorites, but the bottom lines is, these big companies that we deal with will never cut their profit margins to make sure we get the very best for our hard earned cash, they get the off shore facilities to manufacture exactly as they want, maybe not the very worst, but certainly not the beast. Just my buck 50`s worth.

I replaced my Honda Superhawk bearings with Honda dealers bearings and they kept loosening off.So AllBalls went in.They are tight as a drum now and never need tightening. So they went on my S3 as well.

He's an ex expert road racer that has more seat time than anyone else on this board....
Sorry Curtis, but I would have a hard time with that statement. There are quite a few old timers on this board.
Also the bearings that I purchased above were from Cameron Cycle.

It`s noble that you defend your place of employment, but when you make insulting comments on social media, that ways heavy on credibility, and I know of some hack and hammer back yard bull shit monkey wrenchers` that can fix/repair circles around some of these so called licensed techs. It takes me a long time to form an honest opinion on someone, and it was a few yrs before I let my local shop even touch my bikes, a mutual respect and friendship has evolved since. Because someone says this guy or gal is the best or expert means nothing to me in regards to ones` abilities, the proof is in the pudding, as they say.

If you've ever sledded much you soon notice a grease fitting is the only way to be sure water is pushed out too. I'm still running 50 yr old bearings in my 65 truck, not a thing wrong with them. Most grease-able bearings will out-live us, if you look after them. My KH had dried up ball bearings in the front end, races too, so in with taper bearings. I had to add O-rings to my fork ears, the All-Balls opened things up slightly.

Most grease-able bearings will out-live us, if you look after them. That's a fact Donnie. One of my jobs every morning as we steamed out of the harbour was turning down the grease cups on all 4 bearings on the props drive shaft. Bearings in one boat I fished in, were easily 25 years old and had outlasted two or three marine engines. Jim had a good idea there as you noted. As for all the BS about All Balls bearings. You never really know what you are getting any more with anything. Everyone looking to cut costs and save a penny here and there. Even reputable manufacturers from the past have fallen to the greed and now make inferior products. I will go with the masses on this one. I just bought my 3rd set, this one for my KH400

These guys have a pile of vintage repro stuff, Chris a great guy too. I try and shop between Andre and Chris evenly. I'm just going to make the 25 minute drive up to south Kitchener and grab a set of steering head/All Balls for an 82KZ1000 I'm prepping for a safety check, low, low price of 33.97 Canadian dollars, plus HST There is probably an H/S series listing too Mitch, I didn't look. Canada's Motorcycle can supply All Balls head bearings ($40) and if you spend over $50, free shipping. I try and support the local dealers, but with working away, it's really handy to order stuff online and have it waiting for me when I get home. Plus they have been cheaper on tyres (I go through quite a few MX), even when the dealer gives me a "discount..." You been having trouble with FAGS, browney???
