Your wheel is magnesium more than likely not aluminum Nope, its aluminum, too heavy for it to be magnesium. The mag equivallent to my rim is about $1000, a little out of my price range.

One thing about Canadian tire stippers. They wont scratch the surface if its cold in your shop. You could try and heat the wheels in the oven, pull em out and apply your stripper... Makes a world of difference

Lookup the flashpoint of the stripper and dial in your oven to about 25 deg C below that point... The heat should soften whatever is on there as well.

Works is similar to CLR an acid type cleaner prob attacts alum. Ive heard the aircraft types may work same ingrediants as most strippers maybe a little stronger. Not avail. where I am. Id have to look for it in the GTA., then pay dangerous shipping charges. Any way I look at it its going to be a tough sollution. A stripping shop near Bramptom just quoted me $200 for one wheel, ouch! I have used Works on all types of metal and as long as you do not leave it soak too long, it does not eat the metal. BUT, be advised, I am showing the "Blue" version which is very caustic and contains a phosphoric acid I believe. That works mint on stainless and chrome but turns raw steel dark. I don't recall it messing with any aluminum parts however. There is a "Green" version, which is like the CLR or other you mentioned. Probably enzyme activated and maybe bio-degradeable too. It works well at removing rust and I heard it is a favorite at the Barbers Museum. Try bead blasting again, get some of the Black Beauty super abrasive media, that sh1t tears anything off. edit: Two "P"s in stripping
