Because I am not a pro and I am cheap SOG to boot I decided to go the Linux root with a old lap top I loaded Ubuntu, then installed Gimp, and then Inkscape with the Inkcut extension for the cutter plotter output. Good to see a fellow tripler be independent from Microsoft and its cronies! We run Linux here, and regularly use GIMP and Inkscape, as well as many other first class applications.

Hi Jim. I tried Linux a few years ago on a desktop PC but there was to many problems getting all the hardware straightened out, drivers ect. But being a sucker for punishment I decided to try it a again on a dual-core AMD64 HP laptop. The laptop was kicking around for a few years so I thought I would give it a go with the Inkscape. Needless to say after a little work getting the wifi to work the laptop works like a charm. So now I have a dedicated computer for the cutter plotter that would of still been sitting on the floor right now. Linux is kinda like getting a second life out of a computer, much like what us triplers are doing with our triples giving them a second life. browney out
