ian, im assuming the chunk is missing, you could mold it out of jb weld then paint the cases to hide the color difference

I think I would more inclined to cut a new piece form another early case & weld it in.

As easy as these engines are to split, you don't want to just swap cases?

As easy as these engines are to split, you don't want to just swap cases? I'd rather keep the matching engine cases with the bike - It's a '69 build date on original bore and seems to be low mileage. I wondered about patching in a piece from a scrap set of cases - that would take some serious welding skill. I do intend to paint the case eventually. Thanks for the suggestions...anyone with early cases that are otherwise trash?

How about making a investment mold from another upper case for the section you need? Then form a piece of fibreglass, trim it to shape and bond it in there. If you paint the cases you can make it seamless.

The good news is, I'm very patient with regards to filing, sanding and shaping - so it only needs to be "roughed-in".

If you have any plans to drive to the East GTA let me know. Otherwise lets try for a lunch next week. I may be able to scoot out there. You should leave the cases in the car. Can I get the cover to match fit at the weld?
