Can a 44039-048 steering head off a 74 H2 with matching H2 lower tree fit the H1B and not cause interference the H1B fuel tank at full turning stop to stop? Current top tree is -040 but I have the -48 tree set from an H2. The fork spacing is the same but the fore/aft stem to fork distance is shorter with the H2 system.
thanks,
rt

I believe the b gas tank is a little narrower,so will likely fit on but the handling will be affected. The h2 trees have a little steeper rake & will make the B turn in a little quicker. It will also be less stable at speed, do to the steeper rake & shorter wheel base. The only way to get the real answer is to try it. Brad

They use the -48 on later H1 triples, from the parts listings at least. It's unfortunate that trail alteration technically affects the rake, however they do use the -48 on later H1s. The tank clearance might be a non issue but with drag bars they come close to hitting already. I had hoped someone already tried the swap before tearing into the shit. You may be right.
