I bought a board lengthening saw at a flea market once. Cut a board 3 times and it was still too short......

As an engineering apprentice I was dispatched to the stock room with the instruction to request a long weight..

I was lucky enough not to get sucked in but I witnessed another summer student walking the cement plant for hours looking for the left handed crescent wrench... He was told to go to the maintenance shop, they sent him over to the primary crusher, who sent him to kiln#4, and so on...everyone knew the drill and it was a friggan laugh! The poor kid never lived it down all summer!

Interns are worth their salary just for comic relief: we used to send them looking for paper stretchers and cans of halftone dots. And we usually told them that stuff was in the non-existent basement.

Back to the oil seal, boyz...Got 'er done last night.
Besides the tips and suggestions offered earlier in this thread I'd say the key to simplifying removal of the old seal was gleaned form JaMoo's video on crank seal replacement. And that was to give a few whacks with a center punch at a number of spots around the exposed face of the seal, effectively bending that surface inward, and pulling the outer surface of the seal away from the bore slightly, allowing for an easy removal once a screw was threaded into that exposed face. Thanks, John.
While in service mode I also put approx. 2 oz. of glass balancing beads into my front tire/tube. Now I can pull off the heavy gauge solder that's been wrapped around the nipple end of several spokes acting as balance weights. Rear wheel is next...
Cheers, Neil

... but I witnessed another summer student walking the cement plant for hours looking for the left handed crescent wrench... Now this is an interesting thing ... I'm left handed so people I know bring things like this to my attention ... I was only a few years ago that one of my friends showed me a REAL left handed cresent wrench. So, they do exist !!! The only difference is you turn the adjusting screw the opposite direction. I didn't believe it so I had to run around and get a few other cresent wrenches and test them out ... So ...

I'm a lefty as well... I was so disappointed once when I bought a pair of left handed Wiss scissors only to find out they made the handle ergo for a lefty but failed to reverse the blades so the fingers don't flex the blades closer together when your natural movement is to pull your fingers towards your palm when cutting... Not love out there for the lefty! Lol

I'm a lefty as well... I was so disappointed once when I bought a pair of left handed Wiss scissors Oh No !!! I got a pair of those (different brand) for Christmas ... on those, the blades WERE reversed. I couldn't use them to save my life ... I guess my muscles are "forever trained" to use regular scissors in my left hand ... which is fine with me. Not many people have left handed scissors ... or rifles ... or golf clubs ... or long bows ... or ... I've learned to use most of the right handed stuff, it is just WAY easier that way. Heck ... my right eye is even the dominate one now from shooting.

Yup, I know what you mean... I've been pushing scissors with my thumb for a lifetime! Even though tuff on the thumb, we adapt. Btw, I bet all the righty's are wondering what we are on about and will pickup a pair of scissors today with their left hand... The stuff they take for granted!

Btw, I bet all the righty's are wondering what we are on about and will pickup a pair of scissors today with their left hand... The stuff they take for granted! That would be like us trying to use the same scissors in OUR right hand ... we wouldn't be able to cut with them ... Now that you mention it ... how many "scissor" type tools do you and I use that way, with NO PROBLEMS at all ... hmmmm

I have used crescent wrenches for decades, and I still have to screw it first to see which way the jaw goes. (no female jokes you perves.....lol)

If I use one, it's only as a left handed hammer.
