Hi guys. I'm trying to figure out roughly what month my 69 H1 was made. The serial number is 01002 and I tried working out the serial numbers for the production run to about 525 units a month. But I have no idea what month they started production and doubt they went full blast on the first runs. On a guess 9/68 or 10/68. Does someone out there have an H1 that is near to that number with the head-stock sticker showing month? Then again I'm not even sure when we were putting them together if they had stickers for 1969, only stamped s/ns. It's been 45 years since I worked for the bike shop. I'll get one of the ebay sellers to make one close to what I need as mine like a lot of bikes was MIA.
Thanks guys, I was hoping it was that way. It looks like there isn't enough room to put a sticker on without covering the "MADE IN JAPAN" stamp and part of the s/n. There's a 69 for sale now on ebay that has a good photo of the head-stock without sticker which is a much lower s/n.
The first headstock stickers came out in October 1969, which would be a Grey H1. You can work out your Month of manufacture by the wheel rim codes it will be the letter and the number just past the valve stem.
There will always be greater and lesser persons than yourself . . . .
