Have you figured out what you will do with the heads? Will center heads work?

Hi.
I may introduce myself to the board.
I am Jorgen Lund, aged 41 from Norway. I have the past few days read about all there is on your board, and find it very interesting. I've learned a lot.
And this project is definately something I will follow very closely, as a H2R replica is a dream of my own.
Cheers
Jorgen

Welcome to the board Jorgen.
Good to see we have the same interest. I'll try to get the posting up to date soon. Let us know what your currently riding.

Hi, thanks for the welcome.
I have 2 H2B's, 1 of them beeing a cafe racer. Hopefully finished during the cold winter. We have same climate as you guys. Have reached the magic 100rwhp with this one but struggles with a severe flat spot at 2/3 rpm of max torque rpm. This bike has a modified replica H2R hanson rear end and modified jollymoto pipes among other things.
I have an ELR with 1160cc big bore kit,a RD500 and a extremely funny riding 35 rwhp 1971 F8 Bison. (homeported 350cc F9 cylinder with squish band head and 34mm PWK copy carb).

WOW! Jorgen, you have all the bikes I want. The 350 Bighorn F9 was raced in Canada and the USA back in the 70's as it qualified in the 250cc class. Dave Crussel is from the USA and he runs one in the vintage races over here. It has a H1r style frame. Not sure if you had them over there. (Photo below). Several of our KTC members here are Z1/KZ fans so the ELR is a popular bike over here. You should start a project thread here and post your pictures. I'd like to see the Jolly Moto's on the road racer.

Have you figured out what you will do with the heads? Will center heads work? I'm right in the middle of doing some mods to the heads that Neil passed on to me. It's just a little different idea I had. If it works I'll post it as I get the build thread on line.

You guys really have built quite some spectacular bikes!!! Gives me inspiration.

What tube thickness did you use?

I used .095 4130 seamless This is a close match the wall on the stock tube. Weight is not an issue for me.

I don't understand, but hey, it's your project, and it's cool!

I don't understand, but hey, it's your project, and it's cool! What are you not understanding? Sorry if I wasn't clear. The Wall thickness .095" Material is 4130. It could have been thinner but the id. would not match the stock frame where I needed to join. For the few feet of material used in the project, the weight difference over thinner material is not a concern.

It's all cool. I'm removing all the .095" I can to replace with .065", which is more than enough for a frame. To me, it's free HP........

I think Jim's goal is accuracy relative to the proper h2r. It's not gonna be a perfect reproduction, but it'll be pretty close. Maximum HP/performance isn't the goal here.

I think Jim's goal is accuracy relative to the proper h2r HP/performance isn't the goal here. That is a oxymoron statement.........
