I will be starting a second build this summer and through the winter into 2014 . I'll be looking for front and back suspension component's for the frame I have which is a 1974 . I will also be keeping a log this time to see how many hrs I actually spend on the build . Also every penny will be counted and recorded so as to give the next up and coming restorer and idea as to how much it will cost . I have to admit that I do not always find the cheapest way to build . I like things to look good and work right so if I have to spend a little more coin , I am dumb enough to do it .
But I am hoping to have this bike done much cheaper than my 1975 H1 .
First off , I will not be powder coating anything . It cost me over $1200 to do the frame and all the bit's that needed paint that attached to the frame . Ouch . The trick paint on the tins was $750 which actually was not that bad a price as it was airbrushed . The 74 will not be airbrushed but all paint will be done by a pro . I know some guys here do the painting them selves but I have enough lung problems without suckin in paint fumes so I will let the pro guys do that :)I will of course be hunting for the lowest price .
The engine will probably be the most expensive as it will need the crank rebuilt , jugs (turned ). Did I phrase that right . ( Turned ) . New pistons , rods , bearings ,,,no bearing loctite lol !!!
Carbs rebuilt and tuned for K&N single Filter . Yes , the one filter . I have an idea that will be a new or maybe not a new idea . You will see it eventually and pipe in if you think any thing I am doing is the wrong way . Of course it never hurt's to experiment .
Anyway I will post some pics and my time sheet and cost once I start .
I will be using all the tips and tricks that we have all posted on this forum and then some as I find a cheaper way to do things .
This post is being added to my build hrs also as it will most likely be question and answer time in the near future
That's the first half hr anyway on the time sheet . Yes I am old and yes I type slow But I think like a kid !!! That's what keeps me in trouble !!!
