Kewl! Another early H1 to be joining the ranks! What colour will it be? FWIW, When you build the gearbox I suggest you use the later "wide base" 2/3 shifter fork if possible.. J

The improved shifter fork and a ton of info (including shim part numbers) here: kawtriple.com/mraxl/bulletins/74h-26.pdfkawtriple.com/mraxl/bulletins/73-h21.pdfI suggest you shim your trans like this^^^^ for the initial setup. Then install it into the case and adjust accordingly for deepest dog engagement (dogs engaged) but without clash (dogs disengaged). Apply a tight squeeze with fingers to gears being adjusted to check both situes... Don't forget to push down on the needle bearing race (at ends of the shafts) to seat it in the case when doing any clearance checks.... Here's some more stuff for you: kawtriple.com/mraxl/trans_manual/motomanual.htmUse good used circlips for setup, replace with new for final and re-check. (consider an "in service" circlip to have a one time installation life) J Sheesh, there I go again running on ......I really should learn to post two word replies like some others......

i remember those bulletins now... i found some nice .010" yamaha shims that fine tune the engagement. the kawi shims are .020" and .040" if i remember correctly.
i am also going to to the oil pump kit bulletin.
btw the bike has original peacock grey scheme and some patina to give it the "look".

Ya, I managed to get side clearances down to the .003-.005 range on the gear - circlip clearances, despite using the std kaw .5/1mm shims...
If you are doing the oil pump you may want to address the check valves too..
Is this the bike that was advertised here a while ago in the Ottawa area? If so, it looked quite complete..

PS, For future reference what's the Yam PN of the .010 shims? Do they have anti rotational tab on the ID?

yam part # 168-17428-01-03. i got mine off of ebay because they were nla from yamaha (i think).
scott, regarding the oil lines, are you referring to lapping the ball seats and checking the cracking press?

Yes, You can either stretch the stock springs to 16mm (yields a very close to 4.6 lbs cracking pressure) or better yet get new springs from 12dot/Darth over at KTOG. They have new balls too, which you can get a few extra to make lapping tools.... When you're done stand filled lines up overnight to check for seepage (air in line)... J

Original handle bars?
Look kinda goofy or are they just not pointed down enough for the rider?
Love the peacock grey though,
