I'm figuring out how to embed an image.... The best bet for all forums I have found, is to send your pictures to a photo hosting site such as Photobucket. That's the one I use. Then you just cut and paste the link to each pic in the body of your text and away ya go.

What do you guys think off doing a little of this to the h1a?

I just happen to have some spares from my H1b, maybe the handrail, definitely a back fender, one gauge and mounts (cant remember if I sold the tach or speedo) probably a tail light and if you are going to repaint the blue I have a decal set I never used. Welcome to the madness.

Welcome to the madness. Bake!! We could make use of everything except the gauges. Sounds perfect! We're using a different front end and we'll probably go with simple, small aftermarket gauges similar to the ones on the Mongrel. We'll be in touch!

Bracing the headstock is a great idea!

Bracing the headstock is a great idea! My first thought is why not do it all? I guess this is a cost vs function kind of discussion....so I guess we will need to settle on what makes sense. I get the feeling that is a subject all to itself ;D ;D

That's a bunch of added metal and weight. Most is unnecessary.

I think the frame has enough bracing.Jim Barton took a third place for the 1995 season including Mosport.I dought you guys on street tires could push that bike harder than it has been pushed at various tracks.

We need to do a little more investigating, but I agree with all the input here. JaMoo and Autofobe are right in that, for the street especially, too much bracing is overkill. We're not going for any lap records with this machine!! Well, maybe a personal best, but no world records or anything like that! ;D Walms and Seaglider are right in wanting to do all that can and should be done to make this "rig" the best it can be. We just might end up at a track day or 2 down the road, so it would be nice to have the best platform we can provide! ;D It's not just the horsepower and torque differences. I'd like to consider how the added weight of the h2 engine might contribute to any ill-handling of the package as a whole. Thots? I'll have to check specs... I'm guessing Moo would know off by heart the weight difference! ;D Thanks for your input guys. Much appreciated. THAT'S what we're looking for here!!

Have a look at Nev Lush's H1B framed (essentially the same as an H1A) 750 racer for some ideas: kawtriple.com/mraxl/articles/bushwacker1.htmI believe he said it weighed 341lbs full of gas. Pay attention to the jacked up rear end, long swinger, and small offset triple clamps, that pull the front wheel back. The end result is a weight distribution/geometry/handling more in line with a modern sport bike. J

Ohh man that is a sweet looking (and clearly performing) machine. Drew, the running gear we have now would look a lot like this. Those chambers are great too!! I wonder if other sidehack guys in North America would use similar designs. Hard to imagine what bracing might have been used under the tank and steering head but hey as long as we're not breaking the bank why not?
