I'm going to try to make it out to as many races as I can, as a spectator, this summer.

I'll have my H2 out there this year again. Looking forward to doing the long track at Shannonville this year for a change. Looks like the H2 is getting old though, VRRA wants me to run Depends (oil containment diaper) on it this year! They are worrried she can't last a race without dribbling I guess! May be another triple out there too, my buddy Joe is talking about switching on one of his H1's vs the 450 Honda he tried to race last year. So far only 3 races on calendar but rumour of a Quebec round is still swirling. Cheers!

A real strong early H1 will just dip into the 12's. Good goal though..I would like to try my luck at the striop too.

Not so sure about that , loooong time ago 1981 at Seattle International Raceway I ran my box stock brand new 81 GS750 agiinst a 71 H1 I clocked a low 12 and the H1 was right there too in the 12's he was a tad slower I won the race but went under my dial in and was out for the day, H1 guy was pissed that he ran a 750 but he sure gave me a run I was so impressed that I kept the time card and wrote Kawi H1 on it and I still have that time card today in my photo album .

However you must remember that bike was 10 years old when you raced it (likely had undergone at least some internal mods over the years). The '69-71 H1s were the fastest 500s when they left the factory. They were also the lightest. Kaw started to neuter the 500 starting in '72. With each subsequent model year they got slower and heavier. The HP can easily be restored on your '74, but it takes time and $$. Be prepared for a full engine overhaul (and some engine mods) before expecting performance like you witnessed back in '81. J

In early 1972 Tony Nicosia set an AHRA world record on 1971 500cc H1: 12.26 @ 109mph. I ran 11:98 on a modified H2 in 1978...best I could muster.

J The H1 probably was modified I did not know him SIR set us up to run it was just against what ever bike was in the line up my luck was good I ran all day until I went under the dial in, Yes my new to me H1 will need some work it turns over but has not been ran since 1985 but it is under 9,000 miles on the speedo
