Great find Bake! What's the other bike in the background? Laverta? Yes, 1974 Laverda 750 SF, bought it new and rode it for 4 years then it went from shed to shed.... deteriorating for the next 30 years or so, did a total resto 5 years ago. Bad news from the workbench 1) 2 cylinders have broken fins from the guy I got it from 2) I got the piston to travel the length of the bore but am having problems pulling that cylinder off, I think I might have to try a couple plastic tapered wedges between the engine case and the cylinder... there is a gap about 1" 3) Frame and engine serial numbers don't match... this could change the whole game. I'm thinking something more like this

3) Frame and engine serial numbers don't match... this could change the whole game. The numbers will not match, they just need to be close -- the engines and frames were assembled in different parts of the factory.

frame 63847 engine 59478
think they would be that far off? kinda surprising cause there is only 5000 odd miles showing, but who knows if it even works
I did manage to get the last jug off, it was hanging up on rust accumulated on the skirt of the barrel where it goes into the block.

My original B is Frame is 547... engine 589... My other B is Frame 533... Eng 576..
Yours seems to be the opposite
Zambia what are your numbers...is your frame # bigger? or smaller than the engine

Interesting .. My frame is 547.. Engine is 568.. I'm almost positive the bike is as it left the factory. There was only one owner prior to Joker picking it up for me. The engine number should be higher than the frame number.

Matching engine and frame is desirable for originality's sake, might get more money from a resale standpoint, but I'm not looking at the numbers when I'm ridin'! I think as along as it's a B engine for your B bike Bake, Boy It will be Better than OK! ;D Whadya say B-Biker-DON from Paris ON? Seriously though, it looks like you most most of the required parts for the B. If there was a lot of stuff missing then I'd do a special like you suggested in the pics above. You got into the game inexpensively. Some well placed dollars and you're good for a cool vintage B. My 2.5 cents CDN.

I am running a 1971 engine in my B, I have the original engine on the bench and I think mine are spaced like Ian and Ians B's........ Don and Don's B's So we need another pair or B owners to make it a triple double triple thing Orginality doesn't mean poop if your going to use it for a rider. And after I am dead, who cares right? All them folks that ask the silly questions don't do a verify numbers. I do plan on rebuilding my B engine some day, I need the 71 motor for a rat i can toss together from all my spare crap. What's my B worth? In Kanukastan here 35oo as is, 37oo with the original engine, after I dump 25oo into a rebuild. Or I toss the stuck motor in and let it go for 2ooo. It's up to the individual I guess, not worth it to me but nice to have the option. But you'll never sell it once you git-er-done.

Judging from the bikes I have collected I doubt I will sell his one, infact this bike will probably be more of my wife's bike if she likes the finished product, just if it was basterdised (can I say that here) I would continue on the cafe theme.
Now I have to look seriously at these jugs with the broken cooling fins and the botched carb.... 1 cylinder may be salvageable (if it's in tolerance) by welding a new fin piece on.... anyone here done this successfully?
Other than that is there sources for new cylinders? I notice repo decals looks like they have most ofl the other internals I may need with the exception of crank main bearings. Where do you guys source those?

Cylinders are on ebay quite a bit, try the Parts Wanted section here or at KTW, early cylinders have 6mm exhaust studs, 8mm for 1974 and later. All model year H1 cylinders are compatible.
