Well, as we bring the "Honda Content" in this thread to a close, I almost started out as a Honda Guy. As a young teen, I had my eye on a CB350 for my first bike. Unfortunately/fortunately, my parents forbid me to buy a bike as long as I lived under their roof, so that was the end of that. I bought a stereo for my bedroom instead. A few years later, i was engaged to be married and planning a move to our own place so I bought a 3 year old '74 h2b. The rest, as they say, is history. I now return you to our regularly scheduled programming.

Well boys, this project is taking a significant change in direction to become a... Purpose Built Track Bike. I'm a really fortunate guy. I have more street-bikes than I can ride. Three to be specific. So, how about a 2 stroke 750 Triple for the track to sit along side the Gpz550! I'm not gonna strip it down as much as the Gpz has been, just in case I sell it some day. Obviously I have the title and it will be worth more with the wiring loom intact, etc. I'm still gonna have some fun changing it up a little though! I have some ideas: Gonna add a fairing. I don't think it'll be a full-fairing like the one in the pic, but maybe a 1/4 or 1/2 fairing version of this h2r example. Also gonna swap the seat for a fibreglass unit. I have this one on hand and it suits the shape and style of the fuel tank, so, I say giddy-up! So, see ya at TMP in a couple of weeks!

Well Drew i can honestly say the Mongrel is my #1 favorite kawi triple!!! and that says alot as i love every kawi triple! So it will defiantly be sad to see that thing take another path! With that being said it was your keen eye that made that beauty what it is so im sure what you have in store for it will be equally if not more impressive then the last! Enjoy the new road you take this bike on... or should i say track

Enjoy the new road you take this bike on... or should i say track Hey Mitch, I appreciate your support! It's been a fun bike to own and ride, but it's just time to make some changes. It's too noisy and nasty for me to ride comfortably around my neighbourhood as it sits. Unless I'm with a bunch of other Triples, I just don't enjoy riding it as much as I used to. The track is where it really 'feels right' to me, so I guess that's where it will live for now. If it goes back on the street, it'll likely be with milder pipes and a more sedate seating layout... maybe in a h1 frame.

Started another project a few weeks ago. All this talk by Rocket about a Track Bike got me thinking myself. It's fun to ride a streetbike on the track, but what if (horror of horrors!) I dropped the "Mongrel" on the track!! All that time and dollars... scuffed, scratched and crunched. So, what if I could find a cheap 2 wheeler just to ride on the track? Asked a few questions and found a likely candidate. A stock '81 Kawasaki kz550. Not too small and not too fast... just right for having a little fun on a budget. Little reminder Ha ha ha

Asked a few questions and found a likely candidate. A stock '81 Kawasaki kz550. Not too small and not too fast... just right for having a little fun on a budget. Little reminder Ha ha ha Oh ya. I forgot about that... ... not. The 550 is 'up on blocks' at the moment. My enthusiasm for building a 'better 550' has bitten me! It's been a bit of a struggle to find parts for the head repair, so I won't be riding the 550 at TMP this month. I know I really don't want to risk crunching the Mongrel, but I can't miss the Track Day and I can't just sit and look at the Mongrel either... it needs to be ridden, so... I decided to drag the Mongrel back to the track this time and that's where this idea was born. I'm not riding it much because I enjoy the zrx and the kz1000 so much. It ain't cheap to insure 3 streetbikes too!! So, it struck me that I could pull the Mongrel off the street, save a few bucks and still have fun with it a few times a year! Ultimately, I'll bring both bikes to the track to be able to enjoy the best of both worlds. That is, when they're both running at the same time!! There you go. The rest of the story. It's easy to tell which bike is for what purpose too. Green = Track Red = Street

I blame two people for this...
Pipewelder for building his H1R and the Little Guy for selling you the H1/2 fairings!
And I'm sure you brother had something to do with this too! Lol!
I guess I'll have to build a track bike too just to see the Beast!

Don't be blaming me for Drews wild imagination Steve. BTW Drew they make a nice Seat Sail section that looks just like an H2r Just thought it may look good on there but your the man with the eye for the style.
