Hypothetical question.
Say a guy has this old h2(74) that has had the shiit beaten out of it for quite a few years…say since 1986…it runs so bad that he parks it for a year, deciding that it is not safe to ride and it needs a total rebuild…
This bike (theoretical) is pulled off the shelf and taken off the rebuild list for a year to drive to say…biker Don’s with a shit…but great sounding pipe and velocity stacks for breathers.
One guy at Don’s says”engine doesn’t sound tired”.
Now…the bike is running like crap won’t idle or start well and has snot and goo dripping from every joint you can imagine on it.
The great sounding pipe blows up and splits in two (on the way home from R. Yates’s)…so this guy has 12 hours to cobbles 4 old pipes to make a garbage set of 3, for some thing to take to say…RB’s 50.
Don’t know the said jetting or settings they have not been touched since 1994~96,
(sprayed the carbs with electrical contact cleaner and blown dry with 120psi hose, not opened and cleaned) memory is bad. It gets a few gaskets and goo put on the carb inlets and then all of a sudden it is starting first kick…idles for the first time in bla bla years.
Kicks ass every time he rides it, getting around 30 mpg to boot…
Here is the question.
-Do you ride it like a granny for as many years as possible to save it?
-Do you ride it like you have since you were 16 with all your buddies and wait for the engine cases to be blown all over the highway?
-Do you rebuild it and make it very pretty and sell it for a Brazillion dollars on eBay.
Hypothetical …let me know
