My H2 is sitting at 16,000 on the original bore and stock (probably original) pistons. I don't know if the crank has been rebuilt.
As for the gauges; I am convinced there is no way to remove and reinstall those chrome rings without obvious trauma to them. The rubber shrouds cover all that up, but if you don't have them, I think you're toast. I squeezed my chrome ring back on with channel locks, using a piece of flat washer on both jaws to protect the chrome. It turned out pretty good but I'm kicking myself because I forgot to put a little bit of silicon on for waterproofing first. Whenever it rains, I'm paranoid I'll end up with foggy glass (so far so good though).

Pretty sure I can develop a machine/device to open and close them without leaving a mark... if you guys don't mind collecting a few junk ones for me to experiment with I will build it.

Sounds good Lou I'll see if I have a spare tach or speedo kicking around thats screwed . 72 h1b/H2s have a larger dia speedo & tach than 71 and earlier H1s and I think the 73 S2 and maybe H1s have again a different head size . maybe Lou something adjustable if it can be done .

Guys have been taking them apart for years. You just need a very small 90 degree "prying tool" and bend away the bottom lip bit by bit.

tell me, how do I get my dear wife to cooperate like that. I came in bleeding yesterday am, real bad. Got out the first aid kit, cleaned up the wound, dressed it, all without waking "her" up. Then I get called in and told to clean off the grease on the microwave, fridge handle and bandage box. "You missed the Blood you dripped down the counter and get hell out of here, you stink" ("Brake Cleaner" again, she hates that smell). And take that box of "CDI"s with you. Can't, I say. They's going in the basement for the winter to keep warm and dry on the shelf with the preserves.

Beauty paint job. I prefer rich velour upholstery myself. The floral print is classic. ;D What animal is in the picture with the gas tank?

I did sneak a peak thru the basement window, you caught me I guess. Sorry but you never know what you will find if you don't snoop around. More B's, and more B's. Gaining some popularity these pesky B's. I guess we started something A-Man. Kinda glad you bought yours when you did. You got me up in the attic and motivated to re-furb a bike I got "LAUGHED AT" for dragging home. They don't laugh anymore them fukkr's. J-Rod my neighbour and my son couldn't see what we seen, in a heap of junk. Your quite a bike builder/restorer. Nice work BTW. Want to race next June, punk ;D
