Three weeks ago I picked up this little Honda factory GP Racer. Last raced in 1978 it was complete as the day it left the track, Its a 125cc 2 stroke single, (Based on the CR125M moto cross) 6 speed transmission with tall gearing. Top speed around 115 mph. The tach does not register till 5000 rpm... cause nothing happens below that!, Has a cable operated disc brake ! Cool little machine as it only weighs 169 lbs!

Nice little bike,It was the predecessor to the rs125.(Liquid cooled & about 40 hp)I had one about 4 years ago but it was so small & the riding position was so contorted I could not see out the top of my helmet.I took one lap around Mosport & sold it before the day was out.Since then I found out guys stuff sox in the top of their helmets so the helmet sits higher on your head & you can still see out the shield with your chest on the tank. Neat little bike though. They only made those for two years,I think.

Will bring an extra pair of sox and may take yoga and stretching lessons with my wife since i don't spend enough time with her! ... could be a win win situation! Thanks for the tip!

That looks great Paul It must have some collector value. Like Brad said they were the early version of the liquid RS's that were tops in their day. I drove a CR125M and it had the smallest power band of any bike I ever rode. If you shifted too soon you had to shift back down as it would not pull up no mater what you did. Nice score.

Thanks Jim, As for collector value, I was lucky as it was an unmolested bike with matching numbers. The serial number is one of the first 10 produced..... and yes as I understand a tiny powerband of maybe 2G's , roughly between 9500 and 11500. Here is a great vid of a bunch of them racing..... from what i have been told..It wont move unless in the powerband.

Thanks for that Paul. Man that's good close racing! I think I'm 50 lbs too heavy for one of those.....and probably 3 inches too tall.....
