Long ago I bought a garage full of triple parts, and there was a brand new never run FBG stage III motor with Lectrons and a sidewinder pipe kit. I pulled a cylinder to see the "Magic". All I can say, is I wouldn't give that to a customer.

Yep that be our little beauty. Very good Zambia....although it very clearly is no longer a Stage III Fast by Gast monster (per JA-Moo's observation, you'd probably not want to ride it much). We're hoping that we took some of the suggestions for making it milder and streetable (different carbs, oil injection not pre-mix..new wossner pistons...etc) that will make it snotty and fun but shall we say....not sneezing and getting the snot all over you....so to speak . Got to say Rick it looks great!! I'm really looking forward to hearing that beautiful noise she's gonna make!

For what FBG charges, I just expected a lot more "work" to be done. And I'm sure it wasn't streetable.

Nice close up pictures of the FBG engine !!! That picture we posted of JIM MORRIS FBG record holder was an 8 second bike at the time. And Jim did take it out and drive it on the street.Jim sold /traded the bike that he bought from Paul Gast. The guy that bought it went with some buddies to the track with the bike. The guy that was working on the bike left the center spark plug loose. And YUP " ba-ding ba-dang, ka-ping ka- pow" The plug flew out and the engine expired in a zillion pieces !!! Never to be seeing again !! Another friend Wayne Brophy bought the "second" ZR1 900 that came to Quebec in late 72.He drove it home unbolted the engine.Crated it and sent it to California to POPS YOSHIMURA.A YEAR later the engine came back in a crate. It had POP'S magic worked into it.Stroked,Sleeved and bored,Porting, Cam etc.. etc..That Z1 was sheer terror.Sold the bike and it too experienced the same fate !! Engine exploding in a zillion pieces. What a shame for BOTH bikes. And with POP'S gone now for several decades.Too bad so sad.

What is the finish on the crankcases - are they just vapour blasted or is there a paint/lacquer finish, they look really good - very envious! P

Rick did the paint job....not sure how he prepped the surface (if he had it blasted or not)...but I think he just cleaned and painted it. He's a pro for sure....it does look nice
