It's the 1st annual event and if I wasn't already committed to be at Mid-Ohio, I'd be going to this one! If you're looking for a fun way to spend a day in July, go check it out. There'll be some cool rides and great folks to share the day with.

I know one of the guys promoting the show, Paul Dutra. He's a great guy with some really cool builds. Apparently, he's got a new one 'on the go' for this event too. Let's get some Triples out!!

I thought you city guys hated HD's? Been there, done that. My mom lived over a couple concessions from F.T. Town. Theres been a biker thing going on there for a long time, altho they skipped a few years. Lots of weed, beer, HD's, tattoos and chicks showing their hooters. Thats one thing that puzzled me about mid Ohio, wheres all the eye candy?

Paul's event has little or nothing to do with HD's.
It's All makes and all models of hand crafted and vintage motorcycles.
Here's a good example.

I saw this bike at the super show a few years back. Not really my cup a tea but cool enough that I remember it! It looks like a functional rat so good in my books!

I really don't have anything against HD's, Honda's, Suzuki's, Yamaha's or any other brand. We all have our preferences, but in my book 2 wheels are 2 wheels. Even 4 wheels are better than none at all!! Truthfully, I'm looking for friends that like to ride bikes and I couldn't give a rip about what they're riding. From the info I got from Paul, this is a NEW event, not at all associated with any OLD event. New organizers and everything. If I'm wrong on this, feel free to set me straight! Paul's part of the group promoting it. I know and respect him. IMO, he's one of the good guys. Mid-Ohio is all about the massive swap meet (way, and I mean waaaay bigger than Paris) and vintage races. There are hundreds (thousands?) of visitors on bikes that show up. They range from dead stock to radically modified and everything in between. Eye candy? Chicks and their hooters?? Really?? That thing is always down at Lake Shore and Leslie on Thursday nights . Ugly as sin but funny as hell to do that to a Honda ledwing lol . Poor bike ...The guy that bought it flew to LA or somewhere south and rode it back to Canada . It sure does not look rode worthy but obviously it is as it's plated . Well Mike, Paul stripped the 'Wing down and built what you see right here in Toronto. It was already pretty much in the condition you see. Neglected and sad looking. He built what he wanted to build, gassed it up and rode it from Toronto to California and back. Just as you see it. It's road worthy all right. Look. I get that not everyone is "into" this kind of bike crowd. Some just wanna hang with the Triples crowd or whatever. No Problem. I get it. We're good here! As shocking as it may be, I happen to be interested in other vintage and even modern machines. I especially love some of the cool folks I've met. I'll even go as far as Ohio and Alabama to hang with them! I posted this here in case anyone wanted to check this local event out on a nice sunny Saturday in July. That's all. Steady On folks! See you in Tobermory and Paris!

Well, my plans for Mid-Ohio fizzled with commitments at work. So... ... if the day looks sunny I think we're headed up to Durham on Saturday! I'll ride the Mongrel & Seaglider will be joining me on his zrx. We'll welcome others as well. I'm thinkin' we'll head up fairly early, stop for a greasy breakfast somewhere and spend the day. We'll leave early enough to be home long before dark. Walms? Zambia? I know Ned already has plans. Brampton Boyz? Anybody interested?

It was a pretty interesting place! Looks like someone took their farm and created this 'western-style' Ghost-town. As you can see in the background of our pics, the buildings are weathered barn-board and very 'rustic' to say the least. It looks like some epic parties must have been held there! My guess is, you can book the facility for whatever use you wish. It's remote enough that you wouldn't have neighbours to annoy. The only issues would be the lack of 'built-in' facilities and the dirt roads on the property. If you want washrooms and food, you'd have to make your own arrangements. If it rains, it would turn into an ugly mess. Pretty cool place though. Later in the afternoon, Seaglider and I dropped in at his buddy's place. He's a little south of there, off Hwy 9, on the Grand River. Gorgeous spot... nice home, garages and property! He's got around 80 acres (some of it is farmed) with a pond, bush and frontage on the Grand River. He also rides! Sport bikes are his thing. Right now he has a new BMW 1000 with all the modern bling and horsepower technology can provide. We had a really fun day! The weather was perfect and the roads were great.
