Just a weird series of events: Twiss road near my place has a nice curvy section that winds down to a stream and then winds back up a steep hill. I came down cautiously fearing there might be sand on the road. As I started up the steep section of the uphill, I needed to go third to second - but all I got was a nasty neutral..so now I'm leaning into a sharp uphill corner, just inches from the edge of the road/ditch ...suddenly I have no power. I put out my right foot, but below me was only ditch, so in I went..said ditch is beautifully lined with melon-sized rocks. Now the H2 is on top of me, revving to the moon and pouring grass on my groin. Every foul word out of my mouth draws the same response from my bluetooth Scala "not available, not available". I get out from under it and shut it off. I manage to lift the bike - which was harder than expected due to the steep incline, large rocks and a fully torn right rotator cuff (existing injury). One attempt to push the bike out of the ditch and onto the road, almost led to further disaster: the bike rolled back and I was forced to drop it on the rocks again to avoid being dragged into the ravine. As I'm standing there dripping sweat, a lady drives by and asks if I'm OK..I reply that I am (a bit optimistic) but that I could use some help. She drives away to the bottom of the hill and I assume she might have just headed for home at that point. To my relief she not only comes walking up the hill, but has also brought her teenage daughter. They were fantastic - I told them "no offence if you want to just walk away - this is difficult and dangerous". No way she said, tell us what to do. There were both inserts, t-shirts and Birkenstock sandals ..on a steep hill, in a ditch full of rocks, with a weirdo who crashed his bike.. We tried pushing the bike up out of the ditch..but it just wasn't going to happen. I told the young girl.. "Megan, if you're up for it, we'll slowly walk the bike backwards down the ditch to the bottom of the hill". "Let's go she says"..mom offered moral support. Megan did the heavy lifting as I had to balance the bike, work the steering and braking. Man, that was hard. Those women had so much grease on their hands and all I had was a filthy shop rag in the tail piece. They graciously let me smear the grease all over their paws and then they were gone. Bike fired up fine, with signals dangling and mirrors twisted, I lifted my purple ass onto the bike and rode home. That's the first time I wiped out on the street - not pleasant ..

Quite the Story Zambia. Good that your OK.
I still have vivid memories of my car impacts on the street from years ago.
Now we don't heal like we did when we were young.
