Purchased a $800 1970 H1 in Calgary last summer. Started restoration with the intent of doing all work myself. Both clocks where gone. Did get Don (Bikenut) to rebuild the clocks. Very happy with the results. Was able to find all the missing pieces but the tank did not cleanup well. Decided to try a at home rattle can paint job due to exhausted funds. Kawasaki Candy Red base coat Decals applied from Diablo 2 part Glossy Clear coat. Painting done and waiting for A unit to complete.

Looks good, but your decals look a bit slanted

I was hoping it was not to obvious. Painted the white stripe's wrong and decided to match the decals to it.

Thanks. Need it close enough to get collector plates. Other than that it shouldn't be noticeable as long as I am driving it. May redo it someday, but it does smell up the house and I have pushed that as far as I dare.

Thanks Lou, the clock guy is Don Fuslang, (Bikenut7172@aol.com) Works exclusively on triples. Very good to deal with a very quick turnaround. Hard to even tell that the bezel was removed.

Looks good. Home paint jobs can be trickey. My GL/CX project is getting the Tremclad paint job unlike my H1 project.

Krylon "Tough Coat" is the best I have found. Semi flat black, is almost a dead nuts match for the original black on triple frames and parts.

I had the red paint made up from what he called a base paint. Color-coded and then puts it into the cans. $27 each. Looks matte when dry but drys fast and easy to apply. Just needs clear coat to finish.

Its a 2 part clear coat. (Called "Spray Max" 2k) You puncture the bottom of the can and have 48 hours time to use it. Super tough and resists fuel. Mostly sold at automotive paint stores. Drys fast enough to use in a garage environment.
