Just down the road in Trenton the cops there shove a stick up your pipes . If no resistance then you get a fine . Who are they after? Hawgs and Jap bike cruisers with open pipes. Some of those Yamaha/Honda cruisers are LOUDER than some Hawgs.

Are you saying perforated tube is now illegal, or are they looking for a smaller internal baffle that appears to be a straight pipe on the outside? I'm pretty sure the cop would get some resistance from me if he tried to shove a stick up my pipe!

I think what he's saying is they are looking for some kind of obstruction (baffle) if there is no immediate visible evidence of a baffle being present, i.e. an open pipe. I'm certainly no lover of the vee twin open pipe noise but I think it is a pretty cynical move by the OPP to use the Dover event to ticket noisy pipes. Good way to add scads of $$$'s into the provincial poor box with minimal effort though. But just an example of why the Police can't maintain a decent level of respect IMHO.. SoupD.

Your right Mark. The problem here is if you happen to own a BSA or Triumph with original pipes and THEY DO shove a stick up the exhaust you will get a fine as there is no baffle. BUT they are baffled !!!
Basically they are after the LOUD cruisers although having said that a KLR 650 owner was fined recently for loud exhaust . The local Yamaha shop has owners now coming back seeing if they can buy original exhaust which some are NLA . It seems aftermarket pipe makers are NOW starting to make QUIET Pipes to conform to the laws in the USA and soon to be here in Ontario.

Neil (mouth) was warned while at Belfountain a few weeks back... The cop said he'd have a meter with him the following weekend to nab guys like him. So fuk it, I stay away from there now... Plenty of other places to ride and not worry about a heat score!

Bang on Soup. What a shameful "heat score" nabbing guys on their way to Dover. If you have to put up with a few noisy bikes every Friday the 13th, what's the big deal? What part of "serve and protect" is that? Why not drive up and down the route to Dover looking for housewives in mini-vans yapping on cell-phones, oblivious to motorcyclists?

They must have cleaned up all the crime in the area and checking pipes is the last thing remaining on the list. ;D
