i've been into old 2 stroke scooters for years. riding, building and restoring tons. The triples peaked my interest about 3 years ago or so. since then i've had a 500, 400 and still have 3 750's. anyway this is going to be my first bike build with tires over 10" diameter. i picked up a pile of 1974 h2 and a 600fz last year with the plans of building a cafe/fighter mix. the h2 had the back chopped off by some guy who had plans to build a drag racer so it seemed like a good candidate for my project. the fz is an easy swop but i've recently decided not to use it. heres what i had mocked up. i just bought some fzr 1000 parts to replace the 600 parts on the way home from the bike show on sunday and should have them by next weekend. the fzr has bigger forks, swingarm, wider rear wheel and a 17" front tire rather than the 16". anyway, i'm putting my time in the engine first. the crank is split and we're rebuilding it tomorow night. i went with the redline race rod kit. they look pretty sweet! anyone else using them? what do you think? www.redlinemotorsports.net/

not sure about the tire yet. stock is a 160/60 18. i'll have to get the swing arm in and look at it. i just have to keep in mind, the wider i go the more of a pain the chain allignment is going to be. we'll see

hot rods are good. seen their cranks around, excellent stuff. you can buy a whole crank for many bikes, except Kawi Triples for a song. A KX250 brand new complete crank is 209 Canadian delivered to your door. bearings, crank seals all tranny seals, clutch cover, base gasket, head gasket, everything. Wiseco offers the same product's as well. Glad to see you around kid.
Hotrods are very convenient, I can order them right here in small town Paris at my buddies machine shop, for triples too. What's redline charging you per rod?

You got that right! I've got a 140 on my H2 and with the wheels/tires centred and aligned, the chain just barely clears the tire AND the inside of the frame. I have my doubts you can squeeze a 160 in there but have a GOOD look and let us know what you see! I think Bake squeezed a 160 on his project, but he might have modified the frame. My ole brain can't seem to remember.

What's redline charging you per rod? ya, this isnt going to be a cheap build. i'm not use to buying things in 3's. the rod kits were $114 us and includes, both bearings, washers and a modified crank pin. the crank pins aren't stepped like the stock ones. it looks like he mills down a different pin to fit. the over all weight is more but these rods are beefy! Hey Drewski, i hope to see you on the road this spring! I may be dreaming but my goal is to be riding this by then as well.
