Well I think I have my site up for storing the pics and I just uploaded the before ones of the tail piece as it was the worst part on the bike after mice spent some considerable time in there. Hope to finish blasting it sometime this week :-) Full screen Slideshow of all PicsNorth

Well...went a little crazy yesterday and insisted to myself to get the damn tail piece painted... obviously I caved in Lmao I wasn't overly concerned with getting the body work perfect as I'll be adding the 3/16" trim pieces on both sides... though it still looks nice as is. Didn't turn out too bad and I'll also buff it up after it's cured for a few days :-) Changed the pic to reflect the same angle as the before... also thinking of cutting a piece of something breathable to cover the pockmarks left over from the rust [don't want to start using Bondo in there].

Looking good north. What did you use to spray it? Looks like the finish came out real good.

Looking good north. What did you use to spray it? Looks like the finish came out real good. Thanks... it actually did.. I just went to Rondex locally and brought one of the side tins for them to use their Spectrometer on for matching and they showed me the colour and it rocked in the cup... had them make up a custom spray bomb that I would try it out. After soaking the tail piece in Evapo-Rust and the subsequent rinse/dry cycle I went the body work stage to minimize the dimples from the spot welds... rinse and repeat a couple of times with black primer. Sprayed about 3 coats of the base coat... wet sanded with 800 paper and added another 2 coats of base. Finished with 4 light coats of clear... followed by 4 wet coats of clear... all spray bombs. Colour that they matched from my tin was: 734285 K Car: Winnebago Industries Color: Medium Green - Effect 830J - 11.61% 89J - 10.15% 814J - 4.48% 881J - 0.55% 150K - 55.94% 175K - 17.28% Looks awesome...I'm very pleased with the results and I guess my time spent in the bodyshop all those years ago wasn't completely forgotten hehe ;-) North

Next will be the side tins... btw there is a method to my madness as I don't have a dedicated booth I'm blasting my parts in the gravel driveway in the backyard before it gets too cold for me :-) Also... the first post with the Slideshow link has all the pics that I have uploaded to date as well... more to come of course ;-) Hope to get these done this weekend... fingers crossed. Question I have... I believe it's Andre at Repro Decals that has the nice badges and decals... are there decals available to match the Mach III and CDI on my tins? I didn't see any on the website just the 500 Emblems. Thanks. North

That's impressive. How much coverage can you get from a spray bomb? Would it take a few of them to do the whole body set?
I'm impressed with the match, very nice the "Winnipeg Winnebago"

GMTA hehe... I thought the same thing when I read the label. Well after doing the tail piece I have about half a can left and if I was dead nuts perfect on application I could see 3 cans for tail, 2 sides, and the tank... 4 on the outside for any rework.

I am watching this with great interest. I hope you're not just making it seem easy... The painting is "Always" easy [plus it helps to have a down draft back porch ]... it's the prep work that is definitely a PITA hehe. After blasting and cleanup of the Evapo-Rust... the get ready for paint stage took me about 6 hours... mind you this was in no rush puttzing around mode of course North

Well...batting a thousand so far... weather sucked so I ended up doing one tin by hand and then when I went to take some pics my camera was fubared and had to use my phone. Obvious differences in white balance between cameras but the side tin does match the tail piece I only put 2 coats of clear on as I need the proper Mach III and CDI decals laid down before I can add any more and I guess I'll have to email Repro to see if they have them or not.
Fuzzy pics I know but the tins are turning out nice.

So I called Repro today and spoke with Ellen and ordered the Decals I need for the side covers and the letters for the tank. I should be ready for them once they arrive and get the clear done on all 3 pieces at that time ;D I finished the rough prep on the tank tonight and now need to remove it and head back to Rondex so they can scan the stripe colour on the back of the tank to match it up and then I can finish it up.... slideshow also updated with more pics. Lots of work ahead North
